    China to punish embassy intruders

China would punish intruders at embassies and schools according to the law, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Tuesday.

Zhang was commenting at a routine news conference on recent intrusions at embassies and foreign schools in Beijing by so called "asylum-seekers."

A group of "asylum-seekers," suspected to be nationals from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), attempted to break into the consulate grounds of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in Beijing on Monday, the China Daily reported.

"The intrusions violated Chinese law, damaged public order and stability of China, disturbed normal life in the foreign embassies and foreign schools," said Zhang.

The "asylum-seekers" were organized by so-called religious and humanitarian organizations and individuals with ulterior motives, said Zhang.

China would severely punish organizers of these illegal activities, while dealing with the DPRK nationals who entered China illegally in accordance with Chinese and international laws as well as humanitarian principles, Zhang said.
