Gilbert Arenas scored 33 points, overcoming a career night from Allen Iverson's replacement as the Washington Wizards won their fourth straight Wednesday night with a 117-107 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Juan Dixon scored 14 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Wizards closed the game with a 20-9 run to win their eighth straight at home and 11th of 13 since New Year's Day. The last four victories have come without Larry Hughes, who has a broken thumb, but Arenas, Dixon and Antawn Jamison (23 points) have more than compensated for the missing points and defense.

The 76ers played without Iverson, the NBA's scoring leader, but Willie Green proved a more than able substitute, scoring a career-high 32 points and keeping the game close for 3 1/2 quarters. The game had 11 ties and 16 lead changes until Arenas, Dixon and Jamison spurred the Wizards' late run.

Iverson sat out with a strained left rotator cuff, the result of a fall in Monday's victory over Miami. Iverson has missed three games this season, and the 76ers have lost them all.

Green's rebound and baseball pass to Andre Iguodala for a fast-break dunk gave Philadelphia a 98-97 lead with 6:40 to play, but the 76ers didn't score again for four minutes. The Wizards scored 11 straight points, mostly from the free throw line, to go ahead 108-98 with 1:08 remaining.

Green made 10 of 21 shots and added six rebounds and four assists. He scored 19 points in the first half, outscoring the other four starters (15) combined, and passed his previous career high of 26 late in the third quarter. Green also became only the seventh player not named Iverson to score 30-plus in a game for the 76ers since Iverson joined the team in 1996.

Arenas, averaging 30-plus points over his last five games, added a season-high nine assists and six rebounds for the Wizards. His 52-foot buzzer-beater at the end of the first quarter highlighted a first half in which neither team led by more than eight.
