More efforts will be made to offer tourism, exchange, education and living services for Taiwan compatriots in the future to encourage them to invest in the mainland, said Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi on Tuesday.

Attending a meeting of the presidents of associations of Taiwan-funded enterprises, Wu said all the promises made by the central government to Taiwan compatriots will be carried out.

Chinese mainland has repealed the import taxes on 15 kinds of Taiwanese fruits starting Aug.1. In addition, lots of works have been done by related departments of the mainland recently to promote passenger transport and chartered freight flights between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits, said Wu.

The Chinese mainland has also announced a series of measures to offer convenience to Taiwan compatriots in the entry and exit of mainland, Wu said.

Taiwan students will also enjoy a tuition fee standard same with mainland students in the universities and research institutes of the mainland. Special scholarship for Taiwan students will also be set up, Wu said.

She said positive factors have emerged in the cross-Straits relations recently, favorable to restraining the activities of the separatists. Tensions across the Straits began to be eased somewhat.

The two sides of Taiwan Straits are facing a precious opportunity of win-win development, said Wu.

She said it is the common aspiration of the two sides on the Taiwan Straits and Chinese people around to the world to grasp the opportunity to develop cooperation and exchanges in economic and cultural fields, and oppose and contain the separatist activities of "Taiwan independence".
