World No. 1 Tiger Woods has cruised into the final round of the HSBC Champions tournament just one shot behind leader England's David Howell and with the inaugural title firmly in his eyes.

A five under par 67 from the third round leaves the American trailing tightly with Howell and level with Australian Nick O'Hern at the second place.

Looking ahead to Sunday's final groupings Woods said, "Considering this is the biggest golfing event they have ever had here, I think it would be very special to have your name associated with that. Hopefully I can get the job done tomorrow, but there's a lot of golf left to be played."

Woods was also looking forward to playing with Howell and was expecting a tough battle.

"David and I get on quite well so it will be fun tomorrow. I've got to know him over the last few years, he's just a great guy, a wonderful competitor. So we'll go out there tomorrow, give it ourbest and see what happens."

As for the presence of O'Hern, the sensation added that he is also alert of his challenge.

"Nick hits the ball very consistent and he's a wonderful putter. His short game is very solid and he's been there a number of times. He's been in the mix, it's just been hard luck. It's just a matter of time before it happens for him."
