Woods romps to sixth win at PGA Grand Slam of Golf

Mickelson, who had a 13-under 59 to win the Grand Slam by five strokes over Singh last year, stumbled late in the round with bogeys at the 16th and 17th, allowing Woods to move into the lead.

He's not counting on a 59 on Wednesday.

"I can pretty much feel comfortable saying that's not going to happen," said Mickelson, who hadn't touched a club in five weeks. "I'm going out and just enjoy the day, enjoy playing with these three guys and try to hit some good shots. But my expectations aren't very high, and they shouldn't be."

Mickelson didn't leave San Diego until Tuesday morning and arrived at Poipu 1 1/2 hours before his round. He got in 30 minutes of practice before his round.

Singh, selected as an alternate in the event based on his performance in this year's majors, carded a disappointing 75.

He was in a three-way tie, two strokes behind Mickelson at the turn, but had a quadruple bogey on the 193-yard 11th hole.

The world's second-ranked player carded a 7 after his 5-iron tee shot from 193 yards landed in the water, short of the green. His drop, using a wedge from 50-yards out, hit the bank and rolled into the pond.

He then bogeyed the next two holes and finished the back nine with a 40.

"It was an experience," Singh said.
