    Chinese student powers to win men's 100m at Universiad

    Earlier on Monday, Chinese Jiang Qiuyan clocked in a Universiade best to claim the women's 20km walk title, the first athletics gold medal at the Universaide, and Zeng Guang won the silver of the women's 10,000 meter.

    On Tuesday, Chinese shot put veteran Li Meiju and hammer throw specialist Liu Yinghui each contributed one silver, while the rest of their teammates have been knocked out of the finals in other four events of the day.

    Olga Khalandyreva of Russia clocked in 11.64 seconds to take the women's 100m, while Ailis Mcsweeney of Ireland bagged the silver in 11.68. The bronze went to Nikolett Listar in 11.71.

    Kolchanoval won the women's long jump with an effort of 6.79 meters and her Russian compatriot Lebusova took the bronze by 6.51, while Gomes of Portugal snatched the silver by 6.56 meter.

    In the women's 20km walk, Spain's Molina Juan Manuel pulled away in the final phase and took a firm lead to win the gold in one hour 24 minutes and six seconds.

    Kim Nyum Sup of South Korea clocked in 1:24.42 to take the silver while Japanese Morioka Koichiro finished third in 1:19.44.

    Twenty-three athletes took part in the women's 20km walk and 15 of them finished the race.

    In the men's 110m hurdles, Mateus Inocencio clocked in 13.58 to take the solo gold for Brazil, Canadain Jared Macleod snatched the silver in 13.67, while Sergiy Demidyuk of Ukraine finished third in 13.69.

    Women's 100m hurdles' title went to Estonian Mirjam Limask who clocked in 12.96, while Tatyana Pavliy added the second silver to Russia in 13.01. Derval Orourke of Ireland took the bronze in 13.02.

    Ukrainian L. Blonska became the strongest woman by winning the heptathlon in 6,297 points, Skolimowska of Poland took the title of women's hammer throw in 72.75 meters, while Khoroneko snatched down the first gold for Belarus in the women's shot pot in 18.86 meters.

    In the final event of the day, Wilson Busienei helped Uganda make the gold medal tally, by clocking in 28:27.57 in the men's 10,000 meters, beating a pair of Morocco' runners to second and third as Fadil Mohamed timed in 28:31.86 and teammate Karim Ei Mabchour in 28:43.15.
