Guangdong province is briefly named Yue, with Guangzhou as its provincial seat. Historically, Guangdong has been a booming commercial place. From Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty till the founding of the People’ s Republic China, Guangdong was all along the most economically developed province in China. Since the beginning of the 21 century, Guangdong has been restructured from an economy of primary and secondary industries to being dominated by the tertiary industry, from labor intensive production to being S&T intensive production. Home electronic appliances, plastic products, foodstuff, garment, textile, electronics and electric power, and metallurgy are pillar industries of Guangdong province. Civilian and high-tech enterprises have grown up rapidly, for example: Huawei, ZTE, Actions, Tencent etc. TCL Group, Kanka Group, 999 Group, Kelong Group, Gree Group, ZTE Group, Shunda PC and Midea Group are well-known industrial enterprises in the country. Besides, Guangdong is also home to Jianlibao Group, Honda Auto Co. Ltd. and Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.
廣東省簡稱粵，省會廣州市。廣東歷來商業蓬勃，自明清至中華民國和中華人民共和國建立，均是中國經濟最發達的省份。21世紀初葉以來，廣東經濟開始從主要的第一，第二產業轉型到第三產業，由勞動密集型生產轉型到科技密集型生產。家電，塑料制品，食品，服裝，紡織，電子電力，冶金等是廣東省的支柱產業。民間企業高科技企業迅速崛起，如華為、中興、炬力、騰訊等等。TCL集團，康佳集團，三九集團，科龍集團，格力集團，中興通訊，順達電腦，美的集團等是全國知名產業。除此之外，還有健力寶集團，本田汽車公司，白云山制藥公司等企業。

Guangzhou, as the provincial seat, is the largest coastal city in south China and an important financial center in the southern region.
