妙詞佳句，活學活用

1. Do

將do在此提出，同學們可能會笑，如此簡單的do怎么還要拿出來說一說呢？先看下面這個例子：You do the door, and I do the window. 這句話如果在搞衛生、大掃除時說，那就可以理解為“你擦門，我擦窗戶”，但是如果用在夜半行竊時卻又成了“你撬門，我撬窗”。在“do the list”這個短語中，do 則是編排名單的意思?？磥磉@個do并不是這么簡單。

do在英語里有萬能詞之稱，幾乎可以和任何詞搭配，并且在不同的情況下、不同的搭配中可以有不同的含義。再來看以下兩個例子來體會一下do的其它含義。

A. You're tired. I'll do the dishes afterwards.
你累了，吃完飯我來洗碗吧。
B. I don't do drugs.
我不吸毒。
C. John does seafood dishes very well.
約翰的海鮮菜肴燒得很好。

2. Laughing stock

這個就是漢語中的“笑柄”了?？磥?，英漢兩種語言還是有很多相通之處?。?

3. Deserve

deserve 是用得相當多的單詞之一，表示“應得到”、“值得”、也指“配得上”、“配得起”。
A. Good work deserves good pay.
好的工作就應該得到好的報酬。
B. You deserve all these things.
你應該得到所有這些。
C. He certainly deserves to be sent to prison.
他活該送進監獄。
D. I want to wish you all the luck and happiness you deserve.
