Prince Harry, 22, the third in line for the British throne has now vowed to quit smoking in the New Year, ahead of a sweeping Army ban, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.
He has smoked up to 20 Marlboro Lights a day ever since, even though his year-long army training course at Sandhurst, according to the report.
Cadets at the Royal Military Academy are not allowed to smoke inside the college but are permitted to do so in their free time.
Harry had earlier insisted that his smoking habit did not interfere with his health of fitness. But he has finally made a New Year's resolution to give it upfor good.
His decision comes as the Ministry of Defence prepares to ban smoking at all army barracks from March this year. Harry wants to cut down gradually before the new regulations come in, according to reports.
His decision is likely toheartenhis father, Prince Charles, who loathes his son's nicotine habit.
Prince Charles' wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, was herself a heavy smoker, but is believed to have given it up in recent years.
However, unfortunately for Harry, whose girlfriend, Chelsy Davy is asocial smoker, giving up the smoking habit could be a little harder.

該報道稱，哈里王子曾經(jīng)一天要抽20根萬寶路香煙，即使在桑德赫斯特皇家軍事學(xué)院接受一年的軍訓(xùn)期間也是如此。
桑德赫斯特皇家軍事學(xué)院規(guī)定，除自由時間外，學(xué)生在校期間一律不準(zhǔn)抽煙。
哈里王子曾一度認(rèn)為煙癮不會影響到他的健康。但他最終在今年的新年來臨之際決心徹底戒煙。
英國國防部將于今年3月在所有軍營實(shí)行全面禁煙。據(jù)消息稱，哈里王子希望在新規(guī)定實(shí)施之前能夠“逐步”戒煙。
哈里的決定一定會讓煩透其煙癮的老爸查爾斯王儲大感欣慰。
查爾斯王儲的妻子康沃爾郡公爵夫人卡米拉以前經(jīng)常抽煙，不過據(jù)說近幾年她已經(jīng)把煙給戒了。
然而不幸的是，哈里王子的女友切爾西·戴維偶爾也會抽煙，所以對于哈里來說，要把煙給戒了可不是件容易事。
