On July 6, DRC President Zhang Yutai met with Prof. Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University. Prof. Sachs introduced his research proposals to the relevant Chinese organizations. Both sides exchanges views on the possible joint research on strategic issues in the next few decades concerning population, resources, environment, etc. in China and around the world. Those present at the meeting included Dr. Feng Fei, Director General of DRC’s Research Department of Industrial Economy, Dr. Long Guoqiang, Deputy Director General of Department of Foreign Economic Relations, Dr. Wei Jianing, Deputy Director General of Department of Macroeconomic Research, Mr. Lan Weiban, Deputy Director General of DRC’s International Cooperation Department.
