Abstract: Based on the comparative advantages, Gansu province has actively promoted the value realization of ecological products, and explored representative models such as the development of grassland reclamation in Dingxi city, terraced fields management in Zhuanglang county, sand control in Minqin county, tourism service trade in Gan’nan prefecture, and the cultivation of real estate market in Jiayuguan and Zhangye cities. The efforts made by Gansu province have gradually put into effect the concept of turning “lucid water and lush mountains” into “valuable assets” and improved the wellbeing of the local people. In view of the practices and explorations made by Gansu province on value realization of ecological products, we could draw on from Gansu’s experience the following enlightenments. Relevant governments could increase the supply of public products by way of a redemption mechanism in line with the local conditions; adopt a multiple and market-oriented ecological compensation mechanism with local characteristics, and flesh out basic systems like rights confirmation, registration and market transactions; realize provincial and regional win-win cooperation through the horizontal ecological compensation mechanism to enhance the self-dependence and self-development capacities; and give priority to the cohesive implementation of policies, so as to fulfill the integrated realization of ecological value and economic and social values.
