    At least 15 die when bus flips

    A bus carrying students, parents and teachers from a dance school flipped on a provincial highway, killing at least 15 people, officials said on Monday. Nine adolescents and the driver were among those killed on Sunday in Mendoza province, about 600 kilometers west of Buenos Aires. Another 21 people were hospitalized with injuries in area clinics, including four minors, said provincial health minister Claudia Najul.

    Mongolia

    Second round of election on July 9

    Mongolia will hold a second round presidential runoff on July 9, since none of the three candidates has garnered a simply majority in the first round, the country's General Election Committee said on Tuesday. Former martial arts star Khaltmaa Battulga of the opposition Democratic Party has emerged as the winner of the first round on Monday, with 517,478 votes, or 38 percent of the total, the state television reported. Yet, he failed to obtain the absolute majority as required to win the election.

    Kidnapped journalist found dead

    Police have found the burned remains of a journalist who was kidnapped in May, the sixth reporter killed this year in the country, a state prosecutor said on Monday. With the grisly find, Salvador Adame, the head of a local TV station in the state of Michoacan, became the latest name on the list of more than 100 journalists killed in Mexico since 2000. More than 90 percent of these killings remain unpunished.

    Nuclear reactors to be suspended

    The government said on Tuesday it would suspend construction of two partially-completed nuclear reactors while it gathers public opinion on the facilities and decides whether they should be scrapped. It said in a statement that it would form a committee that would spend about three months deciding whether or not construction of the plants should continue.

    Biggest warship on maiden voyage

    The country's most advanced and biggest warship, the 65,000-ton aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, set out on its maiden voyage on Monday from the Rosyth dockyard in eastern Scotland. The ship, which measures 280 meters and can move 800 km a day, was built at a cost of almost $3.9 billion. It will become the Royal Navy's flagship and will be joined later by a sister carrier, HMS Prince of. Wales.
