News from National Housing Industrialization Base Report said that Low-carbon housing buildings of Shandong Province get a good position in China. At present, Shandong has already had 26 projects and more than 7.8 million square meters of buildings which were listed as "National Housing Pilot Project in environmentally friendly energy".

According to Liu Zhifeng, chairman of China Real Estate Association, about 1.8 billion to 2 billion square meters of new building come up every year in China, 70 percent of which are housing buildings. The Chinese government is actively promoting the integration of solar energy and construction, thereby to save energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

According to experts, about 30% of China's current energy is consumed in buildings. Chinese construction industry will take a developing way from energy-saving buildings to green buildings, and then to the construction of low-carbon buildings.

Zhe Wenliang, vice manager of Linuo Paradigma Solar Energy said that their company will actively promote low-carbon buildings and integrate solar energy use into architectural decoration. According to Wen, Linuo Paradigma has built 34 million square meters of buildings integrated into architectural decoration, this is equivalent to a medium-sized city that have used solar energy, it can save 4 million tons of standard coal and reduce 7 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

Zheng Xiaoguang, chairman of Shandong Solar Energy Industry Association said that Shandong used plenty of solar energy. According to statistics, in 2009, number of the enterprises related with solar industry in Shandong Province reached 523, with a revenue of 44 billion Yuan, up 42%. Construction industry occupies a large proportion of solar energy consumption.

Nearly 40 billion square meters of buildings in China are high energy consumers, heating and power consumption per unit area is equivalent to 2-3 times of developed countries with similar climate conditions. However, nearly 2 billion square meters of new buildings come up every year, more than 95% of which are huge energy consumers.

At present, 100 percent of new multi-storey residential buildings in downtown area of Yantai city use solar water heaters whilst above 25 percent of high buildings use the same ones. 500 square meters of the city's residential area use solar energy, saving about 25 million kilowatts power time every year.
