    Management school boosts recruitment

    Zhejiang University's School of Management kicked off a new round of campaigns to lure academic international talents by offering substantial salaries and benefits.

    There are four levels of positions now available at the School of Management at Zhejiang University, according to the plan.

    For specially appointed positions, successful candidates will receive an annual wage of 1 million yuan ($154,000) and receive moving allowances. Candidates for the top positions must be a leader in his or her academic field, someone who has profound knowledge and research experiences and be under 55 years old.

    They will be responsible for developing the discipline, organizing and implementing the discipline's development strategy, helping it to become among the best in the world and promoting international influence.

    Wu Xiaobo, professor of innovation management and strategy who is also the executive dean of Zhejiang University's School of Management, said the compensation package was well within the school's development guidelines, with the candidates expected to play a key role in helping it to be a world-class business school.

    "We need to tap into the increasing business education demand for talents created by China's booming economy," he said. "So we need more talents who have extensive academic experience and a global vision, hoping they bring a great deal of advanced experience and research methods to the classroom."

    The school is also seeking other up-and-coming young talents who have surprising potential in its other three kinds of positions. Salaries for these positions will range from 120,000 to 500,000 yuan per year with moving allowances.

    Zhejiang University's School of Management is a major academic base in China. During the past three decades, the school has been devoted to creating new theories and methods to promote the development of social welfare and management science in China and cultivate innovative management talents who will lead and serve economic and social development.

    The school differs from others in Beijing and Shanghai, as the location of school has an unparalleled advantages and distinct characteristics.

    "Located in Zhejiang province, the cradle of China's private economy, we have great opportunities to research the background of China's private enterprises," Wu said.

    He added that the research environment at the school is of more value for academic researchers.

    "The private enterprises in Zhejiang province are the best examples China's developing private economy. Here, a variety of business cases are worth researching," he said. "For academic researchers, it is the best laboratory."

    So far, the school has successfully passed the AMBA accreditation on its MBA/EMBA and enhanced its educational quality and internationalization.

    It has actively developed academic cooperations and established strategic partnerships with business schools from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Korea, Singapore, Japan and Australia and has jointly developed several international research centers and educational programs.
