Olympic bronze medalist Tang Yi snatched the title in her favorite 100m freestyle as the hosts topped the swimming medal table with 5 golds, 4 silvers and 2 bronzes at the 6th East Asian Games (EAG) here on Thursday.
Japan stood second with 2-2-3, followed by South Korea 0-1-1 and Hong Kong of China 0-0-1.
Tang, bronze medalist in London Olympic, made a splash in 54.66 seconds, 0.11 faster than her younger teammate Qiu Yuhan. Haughey Siobhan Berhadette of Hong Kong, China came to third in 55.06.
"I felt tired after so many big events in the last two months. We had competed in the World Championships in August and National Games in mid September. I had some days off after that. I am not in my peak form, " Tang said after her victory.
It is common to all the Chinese swimmers since China sent a team which is spearheaded by Olympic champion Ye Shiwen and Jiao Liuyang and most of the top level swimmers except double Olympic gold medalist Sun Yang and newly-crowned women's 200m butterfly world champion Liu Zige.
Zhao Jin and He Yuzhe finished a 1-2 in women's 50m breaststroke in 31.69 and 32.09, Bai Anqi added one more gold to China in the women's 200m backstroke in 2:12.70, beating South Korea's Im Basol and Kawayouke Yuka of Japan into second and third.
Mao Feilian won the men's 200m individual medley in 1:58.82, beating Fujimori Hiromasa of Japan 1:59.29 and teammate Wang Shun 1:59.32, respectively.
China won the men's 4x200m freestyle relay in 7:15,25, 0.23 seconds faster than Japan.
Japan's Koseki Yasuhiro and Nomura Ryota wrapped up gold and silver in the men's 100m breaststroke in 1:00.52 and 1:01.10.
Fukaya Ko added one more gold to Japan as he won the men's 200m butterfly in 1:57.81. China's Chen Yin won the silver in 1:57.83.
There will be eight events on offer on Oct. 11 as Chinese Olympic champion Ye Shiwen will compete in women's 200m individual medley.
