HAINING, East China - Russia defeated Yi Jianlian-led Chinese national team 67-52 on Tuesday night at the 2011 Stankovic Continental Cup in Haining, becoming the only one without a loss in the tournament after two rounds competition.

The Russians built an early lead and led by as many as 18 points two minutes into the fourth period, but saw China cut it to 48:60 using an 8-2 run with three minutes left. Russia answered with a 7-0 from there, however, and were never threatened before they won their second victory.

Russia, who will take part in the Shenzhen World University Games next week, edged Australia 99-97 Monday. Igor Smygin and Andrey Mateyunas each scored 14 points for Russia Tuesday, and winners also got 10 points and 9 rebounds from 2.15-meter Anatoly Kashirov, who contributed 31 points and 13 rebounds in Monday's victory.

Yi played 15 minutes for China, who lost to Angola 64-67 in the absence of its main force Yi Jianlian and Wang Zhizhi in Monday's opener, and had 6 points and 4 rebounds before he went to the bench with five minutes left in the third period and never returned since.

"Yi hadn't found his pace and he need time to reach his shape," said Chinese head coach Robert Donewald. "I am not concerned with his form, he will be good in the near future."

Wang Shipeng led the home team with 17 points, Sun Yue added 12.  China, who was only winless team at the Cup, will face defending champions Australia on Wednesday night.

Early on Tuesday, Australia beat Angola 76-68 for their first win in the tournament.  The Australians led by as many as 17 points midway through the third quarter after a 22-18 first quarter. Angola trimmed the gap to five points, 64-69, with 3:20 minutes left.

Peter Crawford and Jesse Wangstaff scored 12 points respectively for Australia while Eduardo Mingas collected a game-high 19 points for Angola, also recording one win and one loss. They will play Russia Wednesday.
