    South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has begun to sell land use rights for its 632 non-resident islands, with the cheapest price being 14 yuan per hectare per year, Guangxi-based Nanguo Morning Post reported.

    Prices are based on a range of criteria including designed functions, with tourism islands generally more costly than forestry ones, and their distance from the mainland. The islands cannot be used for property development.

    The Chinese embassy in South Korea said it had not received a request for help from the man who claimed to be stuck in the country because his son had made his passport unrecognizable, New Express Daily reported.

    A Sina Weibo user posted a photo of his passport on May 15 claiming it had been scribbled on by his son. The photo went viral online and was reported by Britain's Daily Mail and Fox News. But some web users questioned the picture was doctored.

    Li Zhongxiang, from Shenzhen city in South China's Guangdong province, has found his kidnapped child after a 14-year search, but has been ordered to pay 300,000 yuan to get permanent residence for his son, Beijing Times reported.

    The now 15-year-old Li Chenglong was kidnapped in July 1999 aged six-months and his abductor made a false permanent residence application for him which was later annulled. Li Zhongxiang has a son and two daughters now and must pay a fine for having a fourth child, under the one-child policy, if he is to secure citizenship for Li Chenglong.

    Two men were sentenced to prison for illegally organizing people to sell blood in Beijing, Jinghua Times reported on Wednesday. The men, migrant workers surnamed Li and Yang from Hebei province, recruited 12 people from Hebei to travel to Beijing's Jiayuan village to donate blood on Dec 30, 2012. Li was sentenced to 11 months in prison, and Yang was sentenced to nine months.

    The government of Shijiazhuang in Hebei province is encouraging polluting enterprises to move from the downtown areas of the city with hefty rewards, China Business News reported on Wednesday. According to a document issued recently by the city government, 19 polluting enterprises will be moved out from the urban areas of the city by 2017, and those that move one year ahead of schedule will be rewarded with 2 million yuan ($320,000) and will enjoy profitable policies on getting land for relocation.
