Commemorative marathon to span Shanghai and Zhejiang

A 132.8-kilometer marathon relay to celebrate the centenary of the founding of Communist Party of China will be held on Sunday.
The route will start from the memorial of the First National Congress of the CPC in downtown Shanghai where the meeting was held, and end at the Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, where the meeting was concluded — the meeting was interrupted by police and delegates had to move to a boat on the lake to continue.
The historic meeting from July 23 to Aug 3, 1921 resulted in the first Party program and the name and objectives of the Party.
The marathon relay will be divided into eight legs ranging from 10 to 22 kilometers, with the first leg starting at 7:30 am and the last at 10:00 am.
The five starting points in Shanghai are the site of the First Congress of the CPC, Huayu Middle School, Qizhong Stadium, Songjiang No 2 High School and Chen Yun Memorial Hall.
The three starting points in Zhejiang province are Xiangfudang Science and Technology Innovation Green Valley, Jiashan county government hall, and Daqiao township government hall.
