Fudan University unveils AI large model dedicated to children's brain health

Shanghai's Fudan University, along with its affiliated Children's Hospital and Digital Health China Technologies Co Ltd, announced the launch of a large model empowered by artificial intelligence dedicated to children's brain health on Sunday.
The large model integrates clinical experience and internationally cutting-edge original achievements from the hospital, a national children's medical center, in the field of brain health, said the hospital.
By incorporating evidence-based medicine guidelines and leveraging the dual-engine, multi-modal technologies from the enterprise, the large model is expected to significantly enhance its effectiveness in clinical application, it said.
Wang Yi, president of the Children's Hospital of Fudan University, highlighted the large model's capabilities in supporting the upload of medical reports and test results from multiple medical institutions, and providing comprehensive evaluation reports combining assessments with screening questionnaires, clinical symptoms, electroencephalograms, and other data.
"This will help reduce the risk of misdiagnosis and missed diagnoses while offering clinical support to healthcare professionals. It includes providing automatic extraction of key information, rapid identification of brain abnormalities, intelligent identification and diagnosis, and offering clues for diagnosing complex and difficult conditions," said Wang.
"Also, the large model is expected to empower families and schools to conduct multi-scenario assessments and screenings for children's brain health, helping realize early detection and intervention of relevant cases," she said.
