    Renmin University uses high-tech to boost its grads' job prospects

    The Renmin University of China in Beijing has taken systematic measures to enhance its graduates' competence in the job market and improve their employability quality to land more suitable jobs.

    According to the university's employment and career department, the institution has established its own brand for recruitment services, under which about 600 recruitment presentations were organized September 2024 onward. Additionally, over 60 job fairs were conducted and attracted nearly 5,000 employers with about 270,000 job openings.

    The university has also channeled efforts to build and enhance cooperation with companies and other employers in sectors including education, law, media, communication technology and consulting, and have jointly launched over 400 internship or practice programs with these partners.

    High technology is stressed in the graduates' employment services offered by the university. It has developed a smart career services platform which has opened to the students from March last year, with which the students can get interview practices, resume analysis and improvement, career evaluation or consultancy through AI or smart tools. The platform has been used over 610,000 times by the students so far.

    Also, the university has organized a career consultancy program called "LEAD" — meaning leadership, exploration, ability and devotion — from 2014, under which experienced or top-notch professionals from sectors of public services, finance, internet and law are invited to give yearlong career planning guidance to the students.

    There are so far nearly 3,000 students involved in the program, and about 400 professionals included in the program's "tutor pool".

    The university also encourages its graduates to take up grassroots positions, join the army or serve at some voluntary programs to invigorate the nation's lesser-developed provinces.
