It was whispered that Katherine Watson, a first year teacher from Oakland State, made up in brains what she lacked in pedigree, which was why this Bohemian from California was on her way to the most conservative college in the nation...

Katherine Watson: Excuse me, the bus?

妙詞佳句，活學(xué)活用

1. pedigree

這是一個(gè)相對(duì)比較正式的單詞，意思一般是“出身；家族；血統(tǒng)；門(mén)第”等。當(dāng)然在指動(dòng)物時(shí)一般是指“純種”。這種詞在題材相對(duì)嚴(yán)肅的影片中比較容易遇到。給大家舉幾個(gè)例子以便更容易記住它：
1） A penniless lass with a long pedigree and a sweet face, she had been raised by a scheming aunt to find a million dollars and marry it.
