Words and phrases
1. stray from=stay away from（遠(yuǎn)離）；stray from有時(shí)候也可以作“走失”，例如：stray from one's group 離群走散。
2. not only……but……:通常我們遇到這個(gè)詞組的時(shí)候，它是以not only……but also……的形式出現(xiàn)。不過(guò)在英美國(guó)家，去掉also的形式出現(xiàn)的頻率更高。
3. I watched you die:這里的die不是指“死去”，而是借die這個(gè)詞來(lái)突出主人公的“憔悴”和“萎靡”
4. damn:在英語(yǔ)中，人們常常用它來(lái)發(fā)泄心中的不滿。它可以是動(dòng)詞，其意義為：
·譴責(zé)，例如：The critics damned the play.（評(píng)論家們譴責(zé)該劇。）
·使失敗,毀掉，例如：The expedition was damned from the start.（那次探險(xiǎn)一開(kāi)始就注定會(huì)失敗。）
它也可以作名詞，意為“詛咒”。
而在日常生活中，它被廣泛的用于口語(yǔ)中，意為“該死，討厭”，是一個(gè)語(yǔ)氣詞。例如：Damn it! I forgot to turn off the gas.（該死! 我忘關(guān)煤氣了。）
