Leaders visit key sites to note shared philosophies and long-standing ties

General Secretary Xi Jinping visited the residence of Vietnam's late revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of Vietnam on Monday-a special arrangement made by the Vietnamese side for Xi's state visit to the Southeast Asian neighbor.

Xi, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, talked with Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, at the headquarters of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Hanoi, the nation's capital.

The two leaders already met and talked on Sunday after Trong hosted a grand welcoming ceremony for Xi.

Xi said his visit went smoothly and he once again felt the deep friendship of Vietnamese people.

The relations between the two parties and two countries are unbreakable, Xi said, adding that the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two sides has transferred into real outcomes.

Xi said that China-Vietnam relations have special and great significance as the global and regional situations experience profound changes.

The two sides should maintain friendly cooperation with firm determination, he said. Xi also introduced the Communist Party of China's experiences in self-governance and governing the country.

Trong said that Xi's visit to Vietnam is of great significance as it's Xi's first trip overseas since the CPC's 19th National Congress last month.

The friendly and in-depth talks between the two leaders on Sunday demonstrated the deep camaraderie and brotherlike friendship, Trong said.

Vietnam would like to enhance communications with China and push forward the development of bilateral ties, he added.

After the talks, Xi and Trong visited Ho Chi Minh's stilt house in Hanoi.

Ho Chi Minh, late chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Vietnam, lived in the traditional stilt house intermittently from 1958 to 1969. The house has been preserved just as the revolutionary leader left it.

Ho Chi Minh spent 12 years in China for revolutionary activities. At the time, he had close ties with the leaders of China, including Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai.

Before traveling to the stilt house, Xi placed a wreath at Ho Chi Minh's tomb to honor the revolutionary leader.

A source said that by visiting the residence of Vietnam's revolutionary leader, Xi sent a message of being determined to stay true to the Communist Party's aspirations and strive for the happiness of the people.
