巴西的9號(hào)已經(jīng)今非昔比

There is no one close to approaching the ability and influence of the likes of Ronaldo, Romario, Careca, Pele. It is a long and rich history, but right now it is history. Brazil have Fred. They have Jo. They cannot even turn to Alexandre Pato, who had looked like he could have been their main striker, but whose career has crumbled.

The fact is that Brazilian strikers are in desperately short supply. The last one to top the scoring in a major European league was Grafite for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga in 2008. Fred has been a prolific goalscorer, but more recently he has been struggling for Fluminense in the state championships in Rio de Janeiro in front of crowds of less than 1,000.
